To Pee or Not To Pee…Men and War

20 01 2012

I can’t stand it any longer! Four Marines relieve themselves on dead enemies that had been killing and maiming their buddies, and by the media and Pentagon leadership’s reaction you’d think there were implications on par with My Lai. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was “totally dismayed”. Really Leon Panetta? “Utterly deplorable”?!

How about this for “utterly deplorable”: The butchering of American GI’s on the streets of Mogadishu in 1993 by beheading and evisceration after being wounded and bludgeoned to death, then dragging the bodies through the streets of the city, while children dance and laugh, and women and men alike sing victory songs to Allah. Not deplorable?

Or perhaps the two 101st Airborne soldiers captured and brutally tortured and finally gutted and beheaded in Yousifayya, Iraq in 2006, all captured on video for the viewing public by the barbarian AQ pukes who then take two other American boys KIA and tie them to IED booby traps on the road to the other bodies. This incident was hardly mentioned in the media, let alone by any government officials at the time.

If that’s not “deplorable” enough Leon, how about Daniel Pearl, the civilian journalist who’s head was hacked from his bound body while his gurgling screams were drowned by his own blood. As Daniel struggled against his murderers they read from the Quran and chanted praises to Allah. Is that deplorable?!

I am amazed that the United States Government can still raise a volunteer force of the best fighting men and women in the world in light of the fact that their government officials may or may not have their backs. Now that’s “utterly deplorable”!

One specific instance that comes to mind is the bloody battle that 4 Navy SEALS who were on a surveilience mission in Afghanistan and were discovered by two Afghan goat herders. The SEALS knew if they released the herders, they were sure to bring the Taliban on them. However, if they did harm to them, their own government would crucify them. The SEALS chose to take on hundreds of Taliban rather than a civilian government who doesn’t understand war. Three of the four SEALS never came home and Marcus lives the life of a “Lone Survivor”. “Deplorable”?

War is war. It is not a football game where the rule book is enforced by umpires, close calls are reviewed in the instant replay booth,  and afterward we all shake hands and go home. The object of war is to kill the enemy and break his stuff until he quits trying to kill you. Human emotion and frustration during war sometimes drives civil people to do things that society may view as unacceptable, at least under normal conditions. How “civilized” is war anyway? It is indeed “utterly deplorable”.

Lt. Colonel Allen West, now Representative in the US Congress, suggests the Military handle the affair as follows:

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

To Col. West I say, “Kudos”!

To a government who cannot decide if their paid military should be allowed to fight a war to a victorious end and are not willing to identify the enemy, I say this: “If our cause is not just, then get my son the hell out of Afghanistan!”

To my Marine son and his buddies I say this: “Semper Fi my brave boys; your politicians may be weak, but your people are strong!” Oooraah!

P.S. Here is a photo of a pose that General George S. Patton struck as he crossed the Rhine river, showing the Fuhrer what his thoughts were at the time. The following Patton quote was to Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander, Allied Expeditionary Force: “…I have just pissed into the Rhine River. For God’s sake, send some gasoline.”

Turkish Connection III (Final installment)

12 05 2010

Author’s Note:  This installment will conclude the series “Turkish Connection”. If you have not followed the series, or recently read the previous posts, you may want to review them prior to reading this one.  I hope to pull it all together in this final article of the series.

Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, beginning in the late 1980’s and officially ending in 1991, the tide of Islam has become a tsunami in those old southern Soviet Provinces.  The societies from the Central Asian provinces of the Eastern Caspian Sea area including Kazakhstan to the Iranian border across the Caucusas Region and even up into Southern Russia, to the Eastern European Balkans have all become increasingly Islamized since the release of the Iron Fist of Communism. Communism is atheistic in its ideology and disallows the open and free practice of any religion by anyone of even nominal political persuasion, thus excluding entire communities from any socio-political participation. In order to hold office, you had to belong to the Communist Party, and therefore could not openly practice any religious faith. In Communism the state is God.

Don’t misunderstand. There were always Muslims practicing Islam in those regions. But just as Christians, Jews, or any other religious group, they were forced underground or treated as subjects.  That along with Soviet government keeping the peace at the muzzle of a rifle served to quell any aspiring Jihadists from acting on their “spiritual” impulses.  This part of the world was behind the Iron Curtain until the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan brought American media attention to the area. You may recall the United States was involved by proxy in Afghanistan vs. USSR much in the same way USSR was supporting North Vietnam against the US. Some say, arguably, that this helped to create the Afghanistan the US finds itself involved in today. Others say, equally as arguable, that this helped facilitate the breakup of the USSR and the end of the Cold War and Communist control of most of Eurasia.

With the newfound freedom of religious expression it was only natural that Islamic ideology filled much of the void left by Communism in these countries. No one hates atheism more than Muslims. In fact, generally speaking, Islam will tolerate Jews and Christians (as dhimmi’s) above Atheism.  This underlying Islamic faith which has been the underpinning of Central Asian culture for Millennia, was finally cut loose, coincidentally, just about a decade after the Islamic Revolution of the late 1970’s which drew the attention of the world.  The result, as we have witnessed, has been an Islamic revival and the beginning of the Third Jihad.

Ezekiel chapters 35-39 of the Bible describes the nation of Israel being revived by the gathering of Jews from “out of all countries” and brought into their “own land” where “they shall dwell in the land that [God has] given unto Jacob, my servant.” Jacob is also known as “Israel”.  Specifically, chapter 38 speaks of a great battle in which the enemies of Israel ally together with one common purpose which is to annihilate Israel. (This is not Armageddon which comes at a later time. I would recommend this essay on the subject by Jennifer Rast entitled, “The Coming War of Gog and Magog, an Islamic Invasion?” at Contender Ministries.)

Those countries and regions known by names of ancient patriarchal founders such as:  Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, Togarmah, and Persia, are all to the North and East of Israel. Today they are known as Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Southern Russia, and Persia which included Iraq, Iran and most of the Caspian “Stani” countries as well. Ethiopia, and Libya will join in the attack, which in that day included Egypt.

What have all these countries in common? You know the answer: “…Islam”.

The Arabians (Sheba and Dedan) will stand by and be critical, but not actually do anything (Ez. 38:13), which they have been known to do in recent events and will be joined by “Tarshish with all the young lions” (Western Europe and progeny) in their observant criticism of the invaders.

As indicated, the desired outcome is the “Final Solution” to the Israel problem. Ever since 1947, when Israel was revived as a nation state, Islamic nations and Jihadi’s everywhere have vowed to “drive the Jews into the Sea” or “Wipe Israel off the map”.

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad has preached it.  Hamas, Al Fatah, Hizbullah and many other Islamist groups rally around the mantra along with every Islamic government in the world. Now a continuous media campaign from the Islamic perspective has had an effect on the Western mind, convincing many that the Jews are squatters, and it seems that many countries in the West are asking themselves, “Why do the Jews have to live there, anyway?”

So where does America fit into this scenario? Well, prophecy buffs and Bible scholars have been trying to figure that out for some time now.  I will refer you back to my lead in question of this series:  Will Turkey replace Israel as America’s chief ally in the Middle East?

While radical Islam has declared open jihad on the West, killing people with suicide bombers, rockets, airplanes, Kalashnikov’s, and butcher knives, moderate Islam has been practicing stealth jihad with much greater success.  The birth rate in the Muslim community alone is fast changing the face of Modern Europe.  Compound this with increased Muslim immigration from Islamic homelands to non-Islamic based societies and the result will be a changed culture.  It is happening here in America. Any time you have mass immigration without assimilation into the host society you have an invasion. No longer a “melting pot” where incoming immigrants become Americans, we are now witness to a new colonization of America. These colonists come from south of the border and east of the Atlantic. They speak Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, Bosnian, Somali, Punjabi, and Urdu.

You may know some of them. They might drive your taxi, sell you gasoline, or tutor your college student. They may landscape your lawn, roof your house, or sell you a car. These colonists might buy a run down property and build a magnificent new mosque. Or perhaps build a charter school and teach your grandchild the superiority of Islam over all other faiths.  He may be your doctor’s new PA, or the new county administrator at the Courthouse.  He may be a really nice guy, a family man, and honest as the day is long. There may be nothing openly threatening at all, but barriers are being broken down and prejudices are falling by the wayside.  “I know this guy. He’s a Muslim and he wouldn’t hurt a fly.” That’s probably true.

The Turkish gentleman, Fethullah Gulen, is accomplishing more through public relations, education, politics, and a friendly handshake than all the Al Qaida and Taliban warriors combined.  But, the common purpose of all of Islam is to dominate the world and re-establish the Caliphate.

The main problem we face in America is not the masked jihadi, but the ignorance of Americans toward Islam. Smiling Muslims in business suits are not the problem. Uneducated Christians and ignorant Americans are the problem. We are so naive to believe the rest of the world thinks like we do. We believe that if we compromise with Islam, “live and let live”, then Islam will reciprocate. Why? Because that’s the American way.

No. Islam does not reciprocate. Islam does not compromise and will not co-exist.  Islam is antithetical to everything that America stands for.  There is no concept of personal liberty in Islam. Freedom is understood as submission. Islam is “Allah’s true religion” and by its very title demands “submission”.

Islam does not care by what method it succeeds, but it will succeed in conquering the globe. Even Muslims have no choice in the matter; Islam must dominate.

Epilogue:

If the United States government continues to alienate Israel, those who seek Israel’s destruction will perceive it as an opportunity to strike without repercussions from the US. If the US government continues its courtship of Turkey at Israel’s expense, then Turkey may well become that chief ally. If that materializes, then the United States of America will be either directly or indirectly involved in that great battle described in Ezekiel.  In case you’re wondering the outcome read chapter 39. It takes Israel seven months to bury the dead and clean up the destruction God brings upon her attackers.

Euramerika: Part ll; The Matrix

14 03 2010

There have been, in the course of American History, different periods of development; an “evolution” or “progression” if you will, of our society. Today’s American citizenry would not recognize the Founders’ America any clearer than those American Founders would recognize today’s society. We exist on the same Continental soil, but beyond that, pitiful little have we in common.

Those periods of societal evolution can be traced, in large part, to a few historical events that had prodigious effects on American society, both politically and culturally. We shall explore only the most obvious of those in the next two installments for the sake of brevity.

Of course, to begin at the beginning, we must precede the beginning.

The Colonial Period:  The Mayflower Compact was the first document in the New World which set forth and outlined the commitment to rule of law and self governance for the good of society, in the absence of a ruling power. (While they agreed to status of “loyal subjects of the King” of Britain, the Pilgrims were on their own, as there was no pre-existing structure of government and law enforcement.) Only the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God” would be enforceable in this wilderness settlement for several years, until the Colony became established. Survival was the immediate goal; all else would become secondary. Self governance of the individual would become the key to the survival of the community.

This principle carried through the entire colonial period and served to galvanize the American culture as the frontier was settled. As the Colonies became more prosperous, the British Crown exacted more governance, the end of which was the eight year long American Revolutionary War and subsequent independence.

Post Revolution: The ratification of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights emphasized those same principles of self governance, delineating the limitations of Federal government, and charging the Federal and State governments with protecting and preserving the rights of the individual. Continuing the American tradition of “Rule of Law”, the individual citizen continues to recognize the importance of self control and the intrinsic value of citizenship. Not “citizenship” as in simply “born in America” therefore due an equal portion, but citizenship as in exercising ones God given rights,  not to mention ones duty, in civil matters as well as socially. The cooperation of responsible individuals makes for responsible communities.  Likewise, the responsible community holds the individual accountable, and the personal accountability is rooted in belief and faith in a Supreme Deity which is the ultimate Judge and Lawgiver. In Western civilization, that faith foundation is and has been for Millennia, Judeo-Christian.

James Madison, Member of the 1st Congress and 4th President of the United States said this concerning self governance: “The future of America lies not in the Constitution, or anything but our ability to govern ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”  That sentiment is echoed in the words of former Speaker of the House (1847-1849) Robert Winthrop: “Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet.

John Adams, the 2nd President had this to say, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people; it is wholly inadequate to the governance of any other.” This was not an uncommon sentiment in early America. In fact, it had so saturated American culture that in 1838 the New York State Legislature issued this statement:

With us it is wisely ordered that no one religion shall be established by law, but that all persons shall be left free in their choice and in their mode of worship. Still, this is a Christian nation. Ninety-nine hundredths, if not a larger proportion, of our whole population, believe in the general doctrines of the Christian religion. Our Government depends for its being on the virtue of the people, — on that virtue that has its foundation in the morality of the Christian religion; and that religion is the common and prevailing faith of the people. “[Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States, Developed in the Official and Historical Annals of the Republic, 1864, B.F. Morris]

Can you imagine any governing body today, let alone a state legislature, issuing such a statement?!

This was the period (early to mid-1800’s) known as the “Second Great Awakening”; when Christian Revival swept across the land. It lasted up into the Civil War years. (“The Great Awakening” was 100 years earlier, fostered by missionaries and itinerate preachers like Charles Finney and David Brainerd.)

The Civil War/War Between the States: The war that divided America was a particularly horrendous event, which if Europe had not been previously devastated by war itself, could very well have been used by European nations to regain the entire North American Continent.  This time in American history has always been a point of fascination for me personally.

The technological advances of weaponry during the Civil War were so rapid that the antiquated tactics of massing forces to take a battlefield resulted in massive bloodshed. Casualties would mount into the tens of thousands during a single battle. Three days of fighting at Gettysburg in 100 degree July heat would result in 51,000 casualties; dead, wounded, or missing from both sides. “The Bloodiest Day” at Antietam Creek saw 26,000 Americans dead or wounded. Sometimes it took weeks to bury the dead.

This was the most horrendous 4 years in American history. Over 600,000 American soldiers, North and South, died during this time. That is more than all the subsequent wars fought since, combined.

The newest journalistic tool in 1862 was the camera. Matthew Brady exposed hundreds of plates burnishing the images of bloated dead American men, many where he found them on the field, into the minds of civilians who never heard a shot fired. These images haunt us yet today.  Find them. Study them.

I once heard a historian say that the Civil War defined us as a people. I disagree. I believe this was a tragedy of such magnitude that America became shell shocked and never fully understood who she was afterward. This war was not fought on some remote field in another land; it happened on our front lawns, our corn fields, and in our living rooms. We witnessed it first hand; saw our sons butchered in muddy ditches that drained into creeks thickened with their blood. We picked up their severed body parts from among our dead livestock. Our brothers returned maimed for life, and many of our fathers and husbands simply never came home.  Hunger and disease took its toll on civilians across the land. America never recovered from this emotional trauma. [Note: The Civil War was a politically complicated affair and had the Confederacy gained its independence as a sovereign nation, there would certainly have been another war (over western expansion) that could very well have been much worse than what was.]

The economic destruction from the war was no less debilitating if not crippling. Politically, a sea change had occurred as a result of the Civil War. A stronger and much more centralized Federal government sprang forth from the ashes and was fertilized by the stench of death. Perhaps most importantly, the spiritual breath had been knocked out of American society.  The faith of the American people had been shaken; their resolve and purpose brought into question, and answers were in short supply.

As a result, for the next 3 decades, many Americans trying to put the war years behind them, turned westward.  Whatever happened in Washington or the East was of little or no concern to a war weary population.  Homestead land allotments offered many Americans their first taste of government subsidization. The taste was sweet. The promise of a new start was even sweeter in “your America”.
